Ligature strangulation can be use as cause of death in both suicidal and homicidal cases. In this case, the bed sheet and supporting beam of the bunk bed was used by this inmate to facilited his own death by strangling himself.

Radiological findings used in death investigations can facilitate skeletal analysis, trauma identification, and imaging evidence that supports forensic examination and case documentation. Here we can see that the respective larger and smaller bones (Tibia and Fibula) of the lower extremities were shattered by this person being struck by a vehicle. These findings can also help to prove not just the extent of the injuries, but also directionality as in, which direction the person was struck.

Injury From a Fall Due to a Seizure Episode

This decedent fell durin a seizure episode and fractured multiple ribs in the anterolateral section of the upper chest. Given the proximity of the lungs to the chest wall, it can be seen that the sharp splintery ends of the ribs, inflicted a laceration type wound to the upper lung which is in alignment with the location of the fractures as seen in the photos.
